A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that is used in a situation where the maxillary sinus is too low and for this reason it is not possible to install dental implants immediately, i.e. to increase the bone mass in the upper jaw, especially in the sinus area. A sinus lift is usually performed when a patient needs dental implants, but there is not enough bone mass in the area to accept the implants.

During a sinus lift, the surgeon makes a small hole in the bone near the sinus and then lifts the sinus membrane to make room for the placement of bone particles or bone paste. After the bone particles are placed, they are usually covered with a membrane to ensure proper bone growth.
